Garmin Forerunner 310XT Review & A Garmin 910XT Review
Garmin is an excellent brand when it comes to sport watches, and you may want to get either the Garmin Forerunner 310XT or the Garmin 910XT. In this article you can examine the differences between the Garmin Forerunner 310XT and Garmin 910XT learn more about the functions of each watch and which one may be best suited to your needs.
What are the differences between the 910XT and the 310XT?
Here are some of the most appreciable differences between the two watches.
Advanced Swim Mode
When it was launched, the Forerunner 310XT made a lot of heads turn with its waterproof design. This sport watch is waterproof up to a depth of 50 meters, and can be worn on the wrist while swimming. However, it does have a few limitations.
The 310XT cannot accurately measure distance when submerged in the waters. It cannot also record heart rate since the ANT+ signal is not strong enough when in the pool. In fact, some swimmers had to attach the 310XT in their swim caps to maximize its GPS signal.
On the other hand, the newer Garmin 910XT is better equipped to record pool distance and lap information. This is due to its internal accelerometer, which enables it to detect changes in your direction and acceleration while swimming.
It also has a swimming mode which supports different metrics. More impressively, the 910XT can detect different stroke types like freestyle, back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, among others.
A new feature of the Garmin 910XT is the run/walk function. It is designed for runners who participate in marathons, but can also be useful for casual exercisers. The idea is that with this function, users can be alerted whenever they need to pick up the pace and run instead of walking.
With this mode, you can set up a specific time for running and walking. You will then be alerted by the watch whenever it is time to run, or walk, based on your schedule.
Improved Virtual Partner Feature
The Garmin 310XT has a virtual partner feature which pits the user against a virtual runner who runs at the pace that the user has set. The feature can motivate you as you would be competing against the virtual runner, with the watch comparing both runners in terms of pace and distance covered.
In the 910XT, the said feature is further enhanced. Not only do you have the option to go head-to-head against a virtual runner, you may also compete against a previous course or workout. You can browse and download a previous course through Garmin Connect software, and then race against it.
As any Garmin Forerunner 310XT review would tell you, the 310XT is a very functional multi-sport watch. Garmin basically improved on its features and the result is the 910XT, which explains why this model is a better version of the earlier 310XT.
